You could commence this tour from your hotel at 04.00 am for the morning safari or at 10.00 am for the afternoon safari.Wilpattu sanctuary was decalred as a National Park in 1938, Wilpattu National Park is located on the west coast close to the historical city of Anuradhapura .The dry zone jungle is thickly grown. The park is 131, 693 hectares. Nearly sixty lakes (Willa) and tanks are found spread throughout Wilpattu. It is one of the largest and oldest National Parks in Sri Lanka.There are approximately 30 species of mammals in the Wilpattu National Park which include the Sri Lankan Elephant, Lankan Sloth Bear, Sri, Spotted Deer, Buffalo, Sambar and Mongoose. It is among the top national parks world renowned for its Leopard population.Also Monitor Lizard, Mugger Crocodile, Common Cobra, Rat Snake, Indian Python, Pond Turtle and the Soft Shelled Turtle can be seen in Wilpattu National Park.
