In the morning drive to Colombo. Commence the city tour. Visit the Gangarama Temple, the Independence square, the town hall, the old parliament building, and the busy Fort & Pettah areas. Thereafter you could visit a few famous shopping malls. Then drive back to your hotel.
En-route visit
The Gangaramaya Temple is one of the bigger and oldest Buddhist temples in Colombo started by the famous scholar monk Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera in the late 19th Century.
It gradually grew into the complex it is today, which includes the Vihara (monastery), Cetiya (pagoda), Vihara Mandiraya (Image House, which is full of colorful Buddha statues), Seema Malaka, the Bodhi Tree, the Relic Chamber, as well as a library and a museum.
Sri Lanka Independence Square
Independence Square remains one of the nicest places to relax in Colombo, especially in the evenings. In addition to the memorial hall itself, there's also the huge sprawling green lawn outside, the memorial museum, the Arcade next door, and even hoppers at Walkers' Cafe.
Town Hall
Colombo Municipal Council building, or famously known as “Colombo Town Hall” one of the prominent land mark in Colombo.It is the headquarters of the Colombo Municipal Council and the office of the Mayor of Colombo. Built in front of the Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, Sri Lanka, it is the meeting place for the elected municipal council.
En-route visit
Travelling past Colombo’s Galle Face Green towards the area known as Fort, a cityscape looms. In the background, silvery skyscrapers and cream-colored buildings dominate. You will notice a building close to the sea whose dimensions are in complete contrast, being several hundred meters long and only three storey’s high. This Neo-Baroque-style building was built during the British colonial era to house the Legislative Council of Ceylon.
The front garden of the Old Parliament Building is host to several bronze statues of eminent statesmen.

Colombo Shopping
Colombo’s multi-ethnic Pettah district, with its chaotic markets and crowded streets, may at times seem overwhelming, however, it provides a unique an undiluted insight into the cultural diversity of the developing city. The crowds in Pettah can become overwhelming during the morning and late-afternoon rush hours, but the streets are still thronged during most daylight hours.
